The FUTA Pre-Degree Science (PDS) Program lasts nine months and has two semesters. It helps students transition smoothly into university education. It equips students with the necessary academic and practical skills needed for higher education.

Admission Requirements for Pre-Degree Science

To be eligible for the PDS Program, candidates must have:

  • WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB with at least five credit passes in two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • The fifth subject should be relevant to the proposed course, such as biology, agricultural science, economics, or geography.
  • A pass in Physics is acceptable for departments like Estate Management, Industrial Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Ecotourism and Wildlife Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, and Crop Soil and Pest Management.
  • A pass in chemistry is acceptable for architecture.

Candidates with deficiencies in their O-level results may apply, provided these are rectified before the end of the 9-month program.

FUTA Admission Requirements  for PDS Students

To gain admission into the University Undergraduate Program after completing the PDS, candidates must:

  • Obtain a JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) form.
  • Choose FUTA as the first choice.
  • Achieve a minimum aggregate score of 50% in the PDS final examination.
  • Meet JAMB’s minimum aggregate score for admission into 100 Level and comply with the University Admission Committee’s (UAC) requirements

FUTA Admission Requirements for UABS Candidates

The objective is to prepare students for admission into 200-level courses at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and other universities in Nigeria through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Direct Entry process and admission to universities all over the world.

FUTA Admission Requirements for the University Advanced Basic Science (UABS) Programme

Candidate should possess O/L (WAEC/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) at not more than two sittings with minimum of credit passes in any five of the following: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Geography. All candidates must have credit passes in English and Mathematics and any three other subjects relevant to their discipline. At the end of the programme, candidates are admitted into the 200 level undergraduate programme of FUTA, other Universities in Nigeria and some selected universities abroad through CIE, IJMBE and JUPEB.

FUTA Admission Requirements for JAMB Candidates

As an aspirants who have written or is about to write JAMB, here is the admission requirements for getting admitted to the Federal Universwity of Technology, Akure;

  1. You must have written your SSCE (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or any other equivalent).
  2. You must have at least five credits at no more than two sitting.
  3. The five subjects must include maths and english language as well as any other three subject combination for your department.
  4. You must register FUTA as first choice when registering for JAMB
  5. You must have written JAMB and meet the cut-off mark for your propose course of study. 
  6. You must write and pass FUTA post utme with the required cut-off mark
  7. You must be at least 16 years old to be eligible to apply

FUTA Admission Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

The FUTA admission requirements for Direct Entry candidates are as follows:

  1. You must have written your SSCE (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, or any other equivalent).
  2. You must have at least five credits at no more than two sitting.
  3. You must take five subjects. These include math and English. You can choose any other three subjects for your department.
  4. You must apply for FUTA Direct Entry through JAMB.
  5. Must have completed your OND with at least an upper credit from a reputable polytechnic in Nigeria
  6. Apply for your academics transcript to be sent to FUTA from your school.
